This class is a single focused session on your own sewing machine. You bring the machine, we go through it together, and you leave knowing how to thread it properly, set the tension by test rather than by guess, clean it, change the needle, and choose the right needle for the fabric you are working with.

What the session covers
Your machine, not ours
Bring the machine you use at home. Every machine threads slightly differently, so a generic lesson on a different model does not transfer as well.
Threading and bobbin
We go through the threading path on your machine, explain every guide and tensioner, and watch you do it until it is automatic.
Tension
We sew on scrap fabric, look at the stitch, and adjust the tension until it is correct. Then we change fabric weight and do it again, so you learn to read the stitch rather than memorise a number.
Cleaning and needles
We clean the bobbin race and feed dogs, show you the lint that causes most jams, and go through needle types so you stop using a universal for everything.

Machine plus beginner sewing
Start with the machine session, then move into the beginner sewing course on the same machine. Better than jumping straight into sewing on a machine you do not understand.

If the machine needs actual repair, not just cleaning and adjustment, we will tell you. We do not service machines ourselves, but we can diagnose what is wrong and whether a repair is worth the cost.

Can you fix my machine if it is broken?
We can diagnose many faults and fix some, such as timing issues caused by lint, but we are not a repair shop. If the machine needs a professional service we will tell you what to ask for.
I have never used a sewing machine. Should I start here?
If you own a machine, yes. Understanding the machine first makes everything in the beginner course easier. If you do not own a machine, start with the beginner class on our machines instead.
My machine is old. Is it still worth learning on?
Often yes. Many older mechanical machines are more reliable than new budget machines. We will check yours and tell you honestly whether it is worth using.
